Dorothy Jordan is an Advanced Practice Nurse in Georgia and is board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and as a Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. Dr. Jordan graduated with a BS in Nursing from East Stroudsburg University in 1979, a MN in Child Health from Emory University in 1982, a Post Masters Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health from Georgia State University in 2008, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2014. Dr. Jordan’s early clinical practice in pediatrics focused on children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Her psychiatric clinical practice experience includes Psychiatry at the Marcus Autism Center, Consult Liaison Psychiatry at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and Psychiatric Mental Health at Community Advanced Practice Nurses.

Dr. Jordan is the founder of Camp Sunshine, a nonprofit organization offering year-round recreational, educational, and supportive programming for children with cancer and their families in Georgia since 1983. Dr. Jordan has a joint appointment at the Emory University School of Medicine in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Her clinical interests include early mental health screening and intervention, mental health promotion, and the integration of mental health into primary care. Dr. Jordan has a particular interest in the access to psychiatric mental health care for the underserved and specifically, access for children and adolescents.

Dr. Jordan has taught both pre-licensure and post-licensure students and currently is Specialty Director for Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH). She enjoys teaching in the Doctoral PMH program.

Dr. Jordan’s research interests include novel approaches to enhancing nurse patient connectedness, nurses’ well-being, and the promotion of student well-being.
