Teaching
My passion is teaching students in settings that allow integration of knowledge and challenge critical thinking, such as immersive learning in rural regions of South Georgia with farmworkers or in remote villages in the Northern region of Haiti. Cultivating a safe, rigorous learning environment for students is essential to prepare students for bedside nursing, irrespective of the location of the bedside. I continually explore ways to include consideration of the whole person, including the community and other influencers of health, as a key competent of overall health and wellbeing. I trust that this approach leads to increased learner awareness of the numerous facets of care delivery, inclusion of health influences and role of policy and advocate change agent. Each student is a future nursing leader.
