About

Dr. Bussenius is an Associate Professor, clinical track. In 2016, she was awarded the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Award for the wicked project Oral Health In Communities and Neighborhoods (OHICAN). Today, the OHICAN team has developed technology to bridge clinical practice, education and training, research, and health policy. She also was appointed as the Emory Faculty Athletic Representative to represent and advocate for the student-athletes in the classroom.

Research

Bussenius' primary research interests include The Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice Essential IV: Information Systems / Technology and Patient Care Technology for the Improvement and Transformation of Health Care - Take 2 Heart Initiative: This is a Transformative Healthcare Experience Model (THEM) using technology to bridge clinical practice, education and training, research, and health policy. A change project focus decreasing the prevalence of significantly under-diagnosed pre-hypertension and hypertension by improving inaccurate blood pressure measurement in children and adolescents. Additionally, she is a RWJF Clinical Scholars Fellow and using the THEM Model to address the wicked problem of oral health disease in Georgia.
