Sigma Theta Tau is the international nursing honor society, professional and scholarly by nature. The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is home to the Alpha Epsilon chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) offers membership by invitation to baccalaureate undergraduate and graduate nursing students, and to baccalaureate-prepared nursing leaders. STTI has more than 135,000 members in over 90 countries with approximately 515 chapters in over 700 institutes of higher learning.
The Alpha Epsilon Chapter of STTI was chartered in 1964. Our chapter exemplifies the STTI mission of advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. In particular, this chapter is committed to supporting Emory initiatives in nursing research, and additionally to promoting excellence in local, national, and global nursing leadership.

Pre-Licensure Students:
Pre-licensure Student – Membership is offered to students enrolled in pre-licensure programs at accredited institutions of higher education who have completed at least ½ of the nursing curriculum, have achieved a minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA, and rank in the upper 35% of their class cohort.
Graduate Student -Master’s of Science in Nursing and Doctoral students are eligible for membership if they are enrolled in graduate programs at accredited institutions of higher education, have completed at least ¼ of the nursing curriculum, and have achieved a minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Nurse Leader - Registered Nurses, legally recognized to practice in their countries, who hold at least a baccalaureate degree in nursing may apply for membership in STTI. Demonstrated experience and achievement in leadership positions in nursing practice, education, or administration since graduation are important aspects for candidacy, as is community service.
